About Pastor Matt Higa

New Hope Kauai at Kapaa, falls under the unified banner of New Hope International, founded by Visionary and Sr. Pastor, Wayne Cordeiro.  Pastor Wayne's "Doing Church As A Team" or DCAT organizational concept creates the foundational building block of New Hope Kauai's mission: To reach people for Christ, to build Big People, and to be a Dream Releaser. "We're delighted that Matt Higa followed God's calling to Kauai and is overseeing Hawaii's northernmost district of churches."

Matt Higa is a true "local boy" Pastor.  He was raised in Kalihi-Palama on Oahu and attended St. Louis High School, Chaminade University and New Hope's Pacific Rim Bible College.

On Oahu, he served at the New Hope Lead Center with his wife Alison, as Directors of LifeChange Ministries.  They moved their family to Kauai in 2004 to lead the Kapaa Church.  Matt further desired to serve Kauai's unique and diverse community in addition to serving the Body of Christ and was appointed by Mayor Bryan Baptiste to the county of Kauai, Board of Ethics Committee.  Matt served on the Kauai Island Ministries Board of Directors.

Pastor Matt  loves camping and the outdoors.  He is a fishing enthusiast and an avid sports fan.  In fact, he coached basketball and football for more than 12 years before moving to Kauai to head the New Hope church here in Kapaa.  Pastor Matt and wife Alison have one son, Daniel.
